On September 5th, 2024, the Penang Security Practitioners Organisation (PENSEC) in collaboration with ASIS International Malaysia Chapter held the Supply Chain Security and Risk Forum at The Ship Campus, hosted by PKT Logistics. The event gathered a diverse range of security professionals from various sectors, including multinational corporations, large manufacturers, logistics providers, security service companies, and SMEs.

The forum opened with an impactful presentation focused on ESG by Jasmon Lim, Director of Northern Operations at PKT Logistics. Jasmon outlined PKT’s mission and its commitment to social responsibility through initiatives such as the Anak Belajar Ibu Bekerja (ABIB) and Smart Trucker programs. He emphasized the company’s commitment to environmental sustainability through the Triple Bottom Line, The Climate Pledge, and the goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon under their ‘No ESG, No MSG’ philosophy. Jasmon also provided insights into how PKT is utilizing the GHG Protocol alongside its 5 Green Action Plans to promote sustainability.

Sangar Kandasamy, Co-Chairman of JASCO and a representative of the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI), presented on securing supply chains for the future. His talk, titled “Achieving End-to-End Supply Chain Security, Resilience & Sustainability: Strategies for a Future-Proof Supply Chain Beyond 2024,” explored the evolving risks in global supply chains and proposed strategies to enhance security, resilience, and sustainability. He underscored the importance of proactive risk management and the adoption of security best practices, while highlighting the role of digital B2B collaboration in reducing compliance costs and improving efficiency.

Attendees also had the opportunity to enjoy a tea break, participate in a tour of an ESG-compliant warehouse, and visit the renowned PKT Japanese Garden, providing an immersive complement to the knowledge shared during the sessions.

The event highlighted the growing necessity of integrating risk management and sustainability into supply chain operations to ensure long-term security and adaptability.
